Cantebury Cathedral

I've loved history since before I can remember, so being surrounded by centuries of it in one momentous building was incredibly elating for me.

Jodie and I took an impromptu road trip to the city of Canterbury* on bank holiday Monday, and it was one of the most beautiful days I've had so far in 2016.

*Canterbury is a historical city in Southeast England that was a pilgrimage site in the Middle Ages.

We traveled along hushed back roads with houses built so close together you would assume they were one, through their local city centre with old Victorian-esque constructed shops – it's as though we had time-warped to old-century England.

We stopped at the gates of the cathedral and decided to spend the afternoon there, and how majestic the afternoon spent there was.

Crypts, pillars, euphoric voices of the choir rehearsing, Romanesque architecture, Gothic stained-glass windows, coffins belonging to the Royal family ( King Henry VIII's grandfather and wife to be exact). It was absolutely breathtaking. It was as if, just for a fleeting moment, I could experience what it would have been like to be living from anything from the 5th to the 15th century – they had columns there dating back to 1334 and a hauntingly peaceful crypt that dated back to AD times for goodness sake!

I took over 150 photos (with what little space I had on my phone) and just wanted to share with you a few gems that I took on that day.

If you are fortunate enough to be passionate in areas that happen to be rich in culture, history, and spirit, find locations in those areas that you can spend time in – allow yourself to immersed in that atmosphere where you can increase your knowledge, and be a part of something that you love.

It's one of the most beautiful feelings in life.
